Dr. N.M. Gupta, former Prof. and Head, Department of Surgery, PGIMER, Chandigarh is a graduate from Glancy Medical College, Amritsar and Post Graduate of Pb. University. He has more than 36 years of experience after Post Graduation. He has been on the faculty of PGI for 33 years.

He has published more than 150 articles in National and International Journals. His work on Esophageal diseases (benign and malignant) is recognised all over the world.

He is the recipient of many national awards viz. P.K. Sen Memorial Oration award, Dass Mahapatra, Dr. Jiapal Singh Memorial Award, etc. at present he has being appointed Hony. Consultant in Surgery to Armed Forces by Govt. of India.

Dr. Gupta served as Professor and Head, Department of Surgery at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education & Research, Chandigarh. His area of interest is Oesophageal Surgery. He has conducted many workshops on Oesophageal Surgery and is the Founder President of the Indian Association of Oesophageal Diseases. His work on Oesophageal Surgery has been acclaimed internationally. A surgeon with vast experience, Dr. Gupta has published over 150 articles in national and international journals.
